Do I need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico?

U.S. citizens do not need a passport to travel to Puerto Rico. Only a driver's license or another valid form of photo ID is needed to enter the country.

Do I need to speak Spanish?

No! Spanish is the official language of Puerto Rico, but the local restaurants, bars and shops have bilingual staff who are fluent in English. Most locals around town speak English and are happy to engage in conversation!

What currency is used in Puerto Rico?

The official currency in Puerto Rico is the US dollar. U.S. currency is accepted throughout the island.

What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in begins at 3PM and check-out is 11AM. Self-check in gives you the freedom to check in upon arrival! Be sure to check your arrival time. Many flights arrive in the overnight hours, if you are arriving in the overnight flight, you will need to book the night before to ensure check-in upon arrival.

What is the best way to get to Rincón?

Aguadilla Airport (BQN) is approximately a 35 minute drive and is serviced by Jet Blue, United and Spirit Airlines. The San Juan Airport (SJU) has the most flights and airline carriers. Drive time from San Juan to Rincón is approximately 2.5 hours, or you can take an 8-passenger Cape Air airplane from San Juan to Mayaguez Airport. Mayaguez Airport (MAZ) is about a 25 minute drive to The Beach Pad.

Is the neighborhood and surrounding area quiet?

Depending on the time of year. High-season and low-season are almost two different places. From December-April the area is lively with the nextdoor bar playing live music and DJ sets past midnight. From May-November, especially September and October you'll find a quiet beach and neighborhood. There are many restaurant and business closures during this time as well. You can contact us to find out what is open! It's very convenient to be walking distance from a variety of options, but if you are looking for quieter evenings, this may not be the best option for you during high season.

Do I need to rent a car in Rincón?

We recommend guests rent a car if they want the freedom to explore all of the beautiful beaches in the surrounding areas and have easy airport access. If you prefer not to rent a car, you can enjoy the local beach and many resturants within walking distance. We can provide shuttle service recommendations to and from all airports as well as around town and the island.

Is there public transportation in Rincón?

No. A rental car is recommended for all guests to enjoy all Rincón has to offer.

Is there parking at The Beach Pad?

Yes, there is one complimentary parking space assigned to each unit. There is also free, street parking behind the property.

What activities are there in Rincón?

Rincón has it all! Surf lessons, stand up paddle boarding, whale watching, deep sea fishing, diving, snorkeling, parasailing, horseback riding and yoga. View our Activities page for more.

I've heard Puerto Rico has a lot of power and water outages. Will I be affected at The Beach Pad?

The Beach Pad has solar, and a generator as a backup for city power, as well as a 1,000-gallon back up water system. We also use a solar water heater. We've learned that no plan is 100% foolproof but we try our very best to ensure no interruption of service during your stay.
